🔍 In-depth analysis

The CRTBOTW replacement ink cartridge is a third-party alternative designed for HP 305 and 305XL series printers. It targets a wide range of popular home and office models, including the DeskJet 2700 and 4100 series, as well as Envy 6000 and 6400 series machines. Since this is an XL variant, it is intended to provide a higher page yield than standard cartridges, though the exact volume of ink is not specified in the listing. This product serves as a budget-friendly substitute for original equipment manufacturer supplies, aimed at reducing the ongoing cost of document printing.

However, the performance data for this specific listing suggests a cautious approach. With a limited number of orders and a buyer rating that sits below the typical average for high-quality electronics, it is clear that user experiences have been mixed. While the current discount makes it an attractive proposition for those looking to save money, the lower rating indicates potential issues with printer recognition or print consistency that are common with non-original ink supplies.

✅ Pros

Broad compatibility with many modern HP DeskJet and Envy printer models.
Significant savings compared to buying original brand-name cartridges.
XL designation suggests a higher capacity for more pages between replacements.
Available at a discounted rate which lowers the barrier for testing a third-party brand.

Cons and cautions

The 3.5-star rating suggests some users have encountered reliability or quality issues.
Very low order volume makes it difficult to establish a long-term track record for this specific seller.
Third-party cartridges may trigger 'low ink' or 'non-genuine' warnings on your printer.

This analysis is written with an AI model from the product data (name, category, price, rating and orders), not from a hands-on test. How we choose and score

Who it's for: This cartridge is for budget-conscious home users who own compatible HP printers and want to lower their printing costs. It is suitable for those who print drafts or internal documents where absolute color perfection is not the primary concern.

Who should skip it: It is not recommended for professional photographers, users who require guaranteed archival quality, or those who are uncomfortable troubleshooting potential 'non-genuine' cartridge alerts on their printer screen.

🔎 Check before you buy

Confirm the exact ink volume in milliliters for this XL version with the seller.
Verify if the cartridge chip is updated to work with the latest HP firmware versions.
Ask the seller about their specific return policy if the printer fails to recognize the cartridge.
Check if both black and tri-color cartridges are included or if this is a single unit.

💰 Value verdict: Given the current discount, the price is low, but the value is speculative. The mediocre rating combined with only a few orders suggests a high-risk, high-reward scenario. It is a fair deal only if you are willing to risk a potential return in exchange for significant savings over the original brand.

💡 Tips

Keep your old original cartridges until you are certain these replacements are recognized and working correctly.
Avoid updating your printer's firmware after installing third-party ink, as updates can sometimes block non-original chips.
Run a print head cleaning cycle through your printer software immediately after installation to ensure smooth ink flow.

Questions about this product

Will this cartridge work if my printer has HP+ (e-series) enabled?

This is uncertain. HP+ printers often require original ink. You should message the seller to confirm if their chip bypasses HP+ firmware restrictions.

How many pages can I expect to print with this XL cartridge?

The listing does not specify a page count. Yield depends on ink volume and your print settings, so verify the expected page yield with the seller before purchase.

What should I do if the printer says the cartridge is damaged or missing?

Try cleaning the copper contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth and re-inserting it. If the error persists, the chip may be incompatible.
