This page explains where InstaShop's data comes from, how products get into the catalog, how the score and the recommendations are calculated, and how we earn money. Right now: 6,955 active products in 16 categories, with daily price tracking since 28 Sep 2026 (15 tracked days).
Where the data comes from
- Price, list price, rating and order count: the AliExpress Affiliate API. The Israel price and the global price are fetched separately.
- Shipping to Israel, variants (color, size) and the number of written reviews: the AliExpress API, refreshed when a product page is viewed.
- Fashion and design products from Stylewe, Noracora, ChicMe and Openhagen: those partners' own feeds. They have no rating or order data, so they get no InstaShop Score.
- We do not test products by hand. Everything shown is based on store and buyer data.
How products get into the catalog
- Regular keyword and category searches in the affiliate API, AliExpress hot-product lists, and searches made by visitors on the site (you can also paste an AliExpress link).
- A product that the API stops returning on two different days is removed, and its page says it is no longer available.
- The "Picked" label goes to products rated 4.4 or higher with at least 100 orders.
The InstaShop Score (0 to 100)
An editorial score computed only from real data:
- Buyer rating: 42% of the score.
- Order volume on a log scale (50,000 orders or more score full marks): 36%.
- Honest discount from the store's listed price, up to 70%: 22%. A discount above 85% is treated as an inflated list price and ignored.
Tiers: 90+ "Amazing deal", 80+ "Recommended", 68+ "Worth a look". A product rated under 3 with fewer than 50 orders gets no score.
Price history and deal labels
- Prices refresh once a day (around 04:00 Israel time) and a daily price snapshot is kept for every active product since 28 Sep 2026. "Price updated" on a product page shows when its price was last checked. Last full refresh: 12 Oct 2026.
- "Lowest in 30 days" appears only with at least 14 days of data, when the current price is below the minimum of the previous 30 days.
- "Down X% this week" appears when the price is at least 5% below the average of the previous 7 days.
- Biggest-discount lists only include products with at least 100 orders, a 4.5+ rating and a discount between 10% and 70%.
- Every product page shows its tracked price history.
Recommendation pages (Best of)
- 30 buying-question pages plus category pages. Candidates are active products that match the page's title filters.
- Entry bar: rating 4.6+, at least 200 orders or 50 reviews, and a price checked in the last 2 days.
- Ranking: the InstaShop Score plus on-site demand over the last 30 days. At most one product per store.
- Pros and cons on these pages come from data only: rating, orders, price movement, shipping and the Israel vs global price gap.
- Pages are recomputed hourly. The updated date changes when a product enters or leaves the list or a price moves by more than 3%.
Analysis, pros and cons on product pages
- The written analysis on product pages is generated with an AI model (Google Gemini) from the product data: name, category, price, rating and order count. The model is instructed not to invent specs it was not given.
- The cons list also shows points computed from our data: paid or slow shipping, few reviews, a low rating, many variants on one listing and price swings.
How we earn money (disclosure)
- InstaShop is an affiliate site, not the seller. Buy buttons are affiliate links to AliExpress and to our fashion and design partners, and we earn a commission on purchases made through them. Your price does not change.
- On the recommendation pages and in the InstaShop Score, commission plays no part in the ranking. In some automatic lists, such as the deals we pick for posts and widgets and tie-breaks in search results, the commission rate is one of the ordering factors. It never removes a product from the catalog.
- There is no paid placement.
Update frequency
- Prices, ratings and orders: daily.
- Shipping and variants: refreshed when a product page is viewed.
- Recommendation pages: recomputed hourly.
