๐ In-depth analysis
The Savage Raven Jumpgate Dock by Skull & Co. is a specialized USB-C hub designed primarily for the Nintendo Switch ecosystem, including the OLED model and potentially future hardware. Unlike the bulky original dock, this compact alternative focuses on portability without sacrificing the core functionality of TV mode. It features a modular design where the core hub can be removed from the stand, allowing it to function as a standard USB-C adapter for other devices. This versatility makes it a popular choice for gamers who travel frequently or want a cleaner desk setup.
With over three thousand orders and a very high buyer rating, the product has established a strong reputation for reliability in a category often plagued by bricking concerns. The design allows for better airflow compared to the official dock, which can help with heat dissipation during long gaming sessions. While the aesthetic is clearly gaming-focused, the build quality appears to meet the expectations of a demanding enthusiast market.
โ Pros
Highly portable modular design that fits in most carrying cases.
Proven track record with thousands of successful orders and a high satisfaction rating.
Improved console ventilation compared to the standard enclosed plastic dock.
Versatile enough to work as a general USB-C hub for smartphones or tablets.
Cons and cautions
Requires a high-quality power source to trigger TV mode, which might not be included.
The lightweight design may feel less stable on a desk when heavy cables are attached.
Third-party docks always carry a small element of risk compared to official hardware.
This analysis is written with an AI model from the product data (name, category, price, rating and orders), not from a hands-on test. How we choose and score
Who it's for: This dock is ideal for Nintendo Switch owners who travel often and need a pocket-sized TV connection. It also suits users who want a secondary docking station for another room or those who prefer a more open cooling setup.
Who should skip it: It is not for users who prefer using only first-party official Nintendo accessories. It may also be unnecessary for those who never play in docked mode or those who already own a reliable travel hub.
๐ Check before you buy
Confirm if a power adapter and HDMI cable are included in this specific package or if they must be purchased separately.
Verify the maximum resolution supported when used with a laptop or non-gaming device.
Ask the seller if the firmware is up to date for the latest console system versions.
Check if the dock fits comfortably with your specific protective case or shell.
๐ฐ Value verdict: Given the high volume of orders and the impressive rating, this dock offers excellent value at the current discount. It is priced as a premium third-party accessory, but the positive feedback suggests it is a safer and more functional investment than generic, cheaper alternatives found elsewhere.
๐ก Tips
Always use the original Nintendo power adapter or a high-quality PD charger to ensure stable TV output.
If the image does not appear on your TV, try connecting the cables in a specific order: power first, then HDMI, then the console.
Keep the removable core hub in your travel bag to use as a laptop adapter in a pinch.
Questions about this product
Will this dock brick my console?
While no third-party dock is 100 percent guaranteed, this model has thousands of orders and a high rating, suggesting it is engineered to safely handle the Switch power protocols.
Can I use this with my smartphone?
Yes, the removable Jumpgate core typically works with smartphones that support video output over USB-C, though you should verify specific device compatibility with the seller.
Does it support 4K resolution?
The Nintendo Switch itself is limited to 1080p in docked mode, but the hub may support higher resolutions on other devices. You should confirm the exact technical limits with the seller.
