The Derapid AC1200 is a dual-band PCIe network card designed to provide both wireless internet and Bluetooth connectivity for desktop computers. By utilizing the 802.11ac standard, it offers access to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. This is particularly useful for users in crowded residential areas where the 2.4GHz band is often congested, as the 5GHz band allows for higher speeds and less interference during data-heavy tasks like HD streaming. Because it uses a PCIe interface rather than a USB port, it generally provides a more stable connection and better heat dissipation.
While the brand is a niche player in the networking space, the card targets a specific need: upgrading older desktops or completing budget builds with modern wireless features. It supports a wide range of Windows versions, including legacy Windows 7 up to the modern Windows 11. At its current price point and discount level, it serves as a functional, internal alternative to external dongles, though it does require a bit of manual installation inside the PC case.
✅ Pros
- Dual-band functionality helps navigate signal interference in busy wireless environments.
- The PCIe interface offers a more secure and permanent connection than a standard USB adapter.
- Combined WiFi and Bluetooth capability saves space by using only one expansion slot for two features.
- Broad Windows compatibility makes it a versatile choice for both older and newer computer systems.
Cons and cautions
- Very low order volume means there is limited community feedback on long-term hardware durability.
- Installation involves opening the computer case, which may be intimidating for non-technical users.
- Few written reviews (1), so the rating rests on a small sample
Who it's for: This adapter is ideal for desktop users looking for a budget-friendly way to add stable WiFi and Bluetooth to their system. It is well-suited for home office tasks, web browsing, and standard media streaming where an internal, clutter-free solution is preferred.
Who should skip it: It is not for laptop users, as it requires a PCIe slot. It is also not recommended for high-end competitive gamers or power users who require the much faster speeds of WiFi 6 or 6E standards.
🔎 Check before you buy
- Confirm with the seller if the package includes a low-profile bracket for slim or small-form-factor cases.
- Verify the specific Bluetooth version (e.g., 4.2, 5.0) as it is not explicitly detailed in the product name.
- Ask if an internal USB 2.0 header cable is required for the Bluetooth functionality to work, as is common with these cards.
- Clarify the maximum theoretical speed on each band to ensure it matches your home internet plan.
💡 Tips
- Check your motherboard for an available PCIe x1 slot before ordering to ensure physical compatibility.
- If your PC doesn't have an optical drive, ask the seller for a digital download link for the drivers before the item arrives.
- Position your PC tower in an open area rather than under a metal desk to help the rear-mounted antennas receive a better signal.
