The SmallRig Universal Power Bank Holder (Model 2790) is a dedicated mounting solution designed for videographers and content creators who need to extend their camera's battery life during long shoots. SmallRig is well-regarded in the industry for producing reliable, modular hardware, and this holder is no exception. It serves as an adjustable clamp that secures a portable battery to your camera cage or rig, allowing for a constant power supply via USB. The holder is specifically designed to accommodate power banks with a width ranging from 53mm to 81mm, making it compatible with many standard external batteries on the market.
While the original list price was significantly higher, the current discount brings this professional-grade accessory into a much more competitive range. With a solid buyer rating and a respectable number of orders, it stands out as a functional upgrade for anyone moving from handheld shooting to a more permanent mobile rig setup. It is built to solve the common 'low battery' anxiety during mobile vlogging or professional video production.

- Requires an existing rig or cage for mounting, as it is not a standalone solution.

- Price moved between $21.00 and $24.07 since 28 Sep (15 tracked days)
Who it's for: This is ideal for vloggers, mobile filmmakers, and mirrorless camera users who frequently deal with battery drain. If you use a camera cage and want a secure, professional way to attach external power rather than using tape or loose cables, this is for you.
Who should skip it: It is not suitable for those who use very large high-capacity battery 'bricks' exceeding 81mm in width, nor is it necessary for casual photographers who do not use external power sources or dedicated camera rigs.
🔎 Check before you buy
- Confirm the exact mounting thread sizes (e.g., 1/4"-20) to ensure it fits your specific camera cage.
- Verify the maximum weight capacity with the seller if you plan on using a very heavy high-capacity battery.
- Ask the seller if the inner surfaces of the clamp include rubber padding to prevent scratching your power bank.
- Confirm if any hex keys or mounting screws are included in the package for installation.
💡 Tips
- Measure your power bank's width with a caliper before purchasing to ensure it falls within the 53mm-81mm range.
- Use a short, high-quality USB cable to connect your power bank to the camera to minimize cable clutter and snagging hazards.
- Check for additional 1/4"-20 threaded holes on the holder itself, which may allow you to mount other small accessories like a cold shoe adapter.
