This universal external drive mount is designed specifically for videographers and camera operators who record directly to external storage media. Outfitted with an integrated cable clamp, it serves a critical role in rig building by securing your storage drive and locking down the connecting cable. This dual function helps prevent catastrophic disconnects or port damage during active shooting, whether on a tripod or handheld setup.
With hundreds of orders completed and an exceptionally high buyer rating approaching a full five stars, user reception has been remarkably positive. While it sits at a more serious price point than bare-bones cold shoe brackets, the current marked-down pricing makes it an accessible upgrade for those needing dependable cable and drive management on their rigs.
✅ Pros
- Impressive user feedback with a rating over 4.9 stars, indicating consistent quality and high customer satisfaction.
- Integrated cable clamp adds crucial strain relief, guarding against accidental disconnections and damaged camera ports.
- Universal clamp design allows for broad compatibility across different external drive models rather than locking you into one brand.
Cons and cautions
- Sits at a relatively high price point for a rig accessory compared to basic budget brackets.
- Drive and cable size tolerances are not stated in the title, requiring buyers to verify measurements before purchasing.
- Price moved between $23.11 and $26.24 since 28 Sep (15 tracked days)
Who it's for: Videographers, filmmakers, and digital content creators who record video directly onto external drives and need to protect both their media connection and camera ports from accidental disconnects during shoots.
Who should skip it: Casual photographers who shoot exclusively to internal memory cards, or mobile shooters with minimal setups that do not utilize external camera rigs or cages.
🔎 Check before you buy
- Verify the minimum and maximum clamping width with the seller to ensure your specific external drive fits securely.
- Confirm the attachment method (such as 1/4-inch screws or cold shoe) to verify it mounts properly onto your existing camera cage.
- Check the cable clamp channel dimensions to make sure your data cable's thickness is fully supported.
💡 Tips
- Route and tighten your data cable into the clamp before securing the SSD to avoid putting tension on the cable connector.
- Double-check that all tightening knobs or screws are snug before taking your rig into dynamic or handheld shooting environments.
